Random Things on a Spontaneous Day

Myk and I both work at home so whenever we (or I, actually) have the urge to shoot and go somewhere to relieve stress and break off the monotony of the weekdays, we just do it. We work flexi time so we can just catch up on adult-related tasks when we get home.

This is one of those days.

The resort we drove to is near a small airstrip so small airplanes flying around the area is a normal sight.

I just knew Myk would delay lunch again today so I packed him the second batch of deokpokki I made. Still fresh from my stove. :>

On a graver note, our province is in a state of calamity because of the massive oil spill. Fishing and surfing businesses are greatly affected. I wanted to eat mussels but don't want to risk red tide.

South of the Philippines, they are dealing with war issues against Malaysia. Wars. The word alone sparks terror in me. I have seen what wars can do to nations and to people. Their after-effects are written and recorded in history books.

So many people vying for a position in the government and so many leaders governing this country but nothing solid, not to mention effective, has been done to stop the bloodshed. Sadly, the muslims are left to their own devices. I'm not a muslim and Mindanao seems like thousands of leagues away (I'm from the north) but I feel for these people. Most of the government officials seem to be occupied with the upcoming election, endorsing their preferred candidates, instead of focusing on supporting our fellow Filipinos in the South.

It's just sad. I feel sad whenever people have to kill each other for land and property. It's just land. Everyone owns it. Everyone has a right to it.

I feel sad whenever people label themselves <insert ethnicity here>. Ethnicity is important but at the end of the day, we are all just humans. We live in the same planet but we try so hard to build barriers. We boast of super fast internet connection but I've never seen a nation so opposed to peaceful communication.

I live to see the day when we are in a world no longer full of irony and paradox. I know everything is probably a lot more complicated than that but I've always been a firm believer of Occam's Razor. And in my head, these problems call for the simplest solutions. I should really run for office, kidding!

I don't really know where this post is going but I just thought I'd share my thoughts. Hope you guys are in somewhere peaceful and beautiful and your leaders more adept in serving the nation.

  1. I know exactly what you mean Kathy... the thought or mention of war is absolutely terrifying and tremendously sad. It really does seem overly simplistic, but why can't we all just get along? Why do people feel the need to kill each other? It's something I'll never even begin to understand.
On a happier note, you look adorable as always; just keep that chin up and smile on to brighten the day of those around you :)

  2. First off, you look so adorable, as always. Even all your details are perfect, great outfit! Second, I'm so sorry about the threat of war near you, that is absolutely terrifying. I agree that people need to get over this whole land issue and just live. Why go to war and waste so many lives? I'll be sending positive vibes your way <3

  3. Aww, you are so cute! That's a lovely look!
