I have secretly fantasized doing a retro-inspired photoshoot in a retro diner. Sadly, it hasn't come to fruition...yet. On the other hand, Myk and I have finally gotten around to eating at Glenn 50's Diner during our recently concluded Baguio trip.
Why didn't I grab the chance to dress up 50's style and have my photo taken? The place was packed, that's why! There's a limit to my camwhoring skills. It was lunch time so the place was understandably busy. We had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. No biggie. I used the time to take photos outside.
As soon as you enter the door, you will be greeted by an array of 50's movie posters. I couldn't tell if they're authentic despite the fact that I have been watching way too many PAWN Stars episodes. The waitresses were in sailor-inspired outfits, there are bar stools over the counter, venetian blinds, checkered flooring, an old 50's car parked outside, Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart posters, a jukebox, awesome milkshake and the nostalgic sound of 50's music playing in the background - they really went all out to turn this diner into an authentic 50's experience.
Myk and I are usually into the whole dining experience - the food, the service, the price and the place. 50's diner lived up to our expectations. If there's anything to gripe about this place, it's that it made me want to run my very own retro-style diner. I'm thinking 60's-inspired. Hmm...
