Print on Print

Have you ever wondered what your chances are of surviving a zombie apocalypse? I have, no thanks to The Walking Dead. You know, it's futile to seek adrenaline rush from bungee jumping or skydiving or whatever it is adrenaline junkies have taken to doing these days. You just need to watch The Walking Dead. Especially the first episode of the second season when a herd of zombies migrated and passed by the stopping place of the protagonists. The herd caught them off-guard while they were busy siphoning gas and looting provisions from abandoned cars. I nearly died from the suspense. And I don't even like zombie post-apocalyptic movies and series - or at least I thought I didn't.

There's just something gripping about this series though, despite the occasional, ill-executed gushing of blood and extraction of guts and vomiting of brains (okay, the last part didn't actually happen, but I'm sure you got the picture). I'm a passive fan of blood and gore, to be honest. I love it, just not too hyped up over it.

There's really not much ick factor watching the two seasons. I thought Game of Thrones did a better job kicking my gag reflexes, Lannister incest and cocky Theon Greyjoy notwithstanding. But if you are anything like me and you get a thrill over seeing hapless people attempt to escape in terror while a herd of undead limps after them in rabid anticipation of fresh brains and guts, you should go see it. If you haven't yet, that is.

Anyhow, just some quick shots today. Trying on the print on print look again. I was eager to do some end-of-the month thrifting. I managed to take home very pretty dresses to add to my growing dress collection. I haven't even scathed my monthly thrifting budget. That's thrifting for you. Awesome finds at cheap prices.

And some of you might have noticed my new hair cut. Nothing dramatic. Just layers. Which I thought would volumize my hair a bit but only managed to make it look thinner. I have a lot of hair woes these days. It's a self-absorbed thing, please don't mind me.

The last photo is of a cup of ice scramble. I've been craving for it the whole week despite the fact that I only had it a week ago. I had three toppings added to it this time. Call it a sweeter version of the fro-yo.

Hope you guys don't get tired of my incessant ramblings. You should all go have a wonderful weekend. You all deserve it after battling the odds of the past few days. :)

Getting Jiggy

Sunny weekend! I'm so stoked. We haven't had sunny weekends in weeks, except for the brief sunny interlude we've had last week.

This set of photos is one of my favorites. I don't know about you but I like how my photos turn out when taken during noon, under shaded areas. Diffused lighting and all. Plus, my lens lets in a lot of light.

So you can tell there's a lot of 60's going on this outfit. I got this skirt months ago but only got to wear it now. I shortened it a little. And the top was Myk's mom's (legit vintage, yeah?). Took my t-strap beribboned flats for a day out. I'm doing them an injustice by letting them sit in my shoe keeper, collecting dust. Capped the look with a polka-dotted usamimi headband, my sister's drawstring bucket bag and huge shades.

I'm brewing a new blog layout so if you're visiting and the blog looks crappy, bear with it for a bit. I'm battling CSS and HTML codes here.

I hope you are all having a great week! Will visit all your blogs in a bit. <3

So I'm done tweaking my blog. Hope you guys like the new header. It was made my very talented friend JoHam. He really captured what I had in mind. Pretty pretty picture! <3 You guys can also find him on deviantart.

Yellow Fellow

As you can see, I have mastered the art of the averted face pose - just because I make all sorts of weird facial expressions when I look at the camera as evident in the 8th photo. I have always been drawn to people who take photos with blank faces and do it with considerable aplomb. I wonder if there's a trick to that, just like there's a trick in eating daintily (chew like you have a secret, which I have never bothered to master).

Anyhow, today I was expecting heavy dark clouds and full-blown typhoon. But much to my chagrin (and probably to the people at PAG-ASA), we were greeted with clear skies and a bright sunny morning this side of the Philippines.

What better way for a personal style blogger to bask in it than take photos? I sort of feel nostalgic now that I'm back at my old shooting spot. hee~ Whenever I go to Myk's place, this is where I take OOTD photos for my old blog with my deceased Samsung point and shoot camera.

I thought this summer dress was adorable when I saw it at the thrift store. The floral print and the rosette detail hooked me in. You can never own too many floral dresses, I consoled myself.

The pretty yellow button down top I used as inner garment was also thrifted. Myk used to loathe this thing with a passion (okay, I exaggerate) just because it reminds him of the Aquino administration. He was never a fan, so was I, but when it comes to pretty yellow clothes with puffed up sleeves and tiny floral details, I never discriminate.

I want to take this time to thank all those who have chosen to follow this blog. I thought I'd need to hold people at gun point before they'd agree to follow my blog, but clearly there are people who share the same mentality as mine! hehe. Kidding! But seriously, thank you guys.

And thank you for taking the time to read my gibberish. It makes me happy whenever someone comments on my writing style and not just the photos. Although I'm no Jessica Zafra, I do try to come up with  whatever interesting post my limited faculties can muster. I can only wish I entertained you with the embellished versions of my dull existence. See, you guys? You shouldn't have egged my fondness for irony and sarcasm on because I love it and I totally thrive in it. And any unsuspecting victim might just stumble in and die by the adjective.

Okay now, enough fooling around. I'm off to check your blogs out. Perpetual weekend blogger signing off... :)

Although I claim to be a regency romance novel enthusiast, I've never read any of Jane Austen's classics. I aim to rectify that blunder starting with Sense and Sensibility. I was like a squirrel in the past few weeks, slowly hoarding books in preparation for the rainy season, because there's nothing like curling up in bed next to your bolster with your leg hitched over it, your hands lovingly clutching a good book while you let the angry storm lash out outside the comforts of your room.

Somebody stop me from wearing too many colors too often. It was just by some fluke that I ended up wearing this dress (which was sandwiched between my other dresses in my tiny closet). If my closet wasn't made from wood, it would be bursting at its seams with all the products of my thrift escapades thrown in there. But I digress. Anyway, I realized how I have been neglecting some of my summer dresses all summer. It's a testament to my contrary nature that I chose to wear them now that the summer season has officially ended. Oh well...

You'll see more of these dresses - polka dotted, floral printed, laced - the whole girly shebang. And you'll see more photos of books - just in case you missed the part where I flaunted my literacy.

Overdressed Refugee

It's probably the first time in months that my outfit is totally devoid of thrifted items. The oversized slouchy jacket spoke to me when I saw it on the rack. It looks so vintage, so like the stuff your fashionable Dad might have worn in the 70's that I took to it right away. I love retro in mammoth proportions.

And since the jacket is so colorful, I figured it wouldn't hurt if I throw more colors to this whole outfit, hence the yellow scalloped shorts, yellow loafers and yellow-red combo socks.

The Avengers shirt I got from a toy store from a recent trip to Baguio. I knew I'd fit in the large kiddie size even without trying it on. Puberty skipped me or didn't like me long enough to give me added height and chest. haha!

If you could be an Avenger, who would you be? Most of you would say Iron Man (who could blame you?) but I'd say Hawkeye. Or at least I'd want his archery skills. I've always wanted to have some kick-ass archery skills and give Katniss Everdeen a run for her money. For some reason, I tend to gravitate towards archers (Katniss, Legolas, Susan Pevensie, Geol-Oh from Sungkyunkwan Scandal and the innumerable archers from the period dramas and movies I watch).

So anyway, I was too colorful today. It's just the perfect outfit to wear on a rainy day, which we were constantly having in the past few days. I sort of envy those who are enjoying their summer break though I grew sick and tired of the unbearable heat in the past two months.

Your comments from my previous post actually brought this outfit to life. I was inspired to be less self-conscious and just be comfortable in whatever clothes I throw myself in. Thank you dear readers for being a source of strength and inspiration. I'll find time this weekend to visit all your blogs and return the love.
